Violet laser reactive "optical calcite" from the area of Gatineau, Qc, Canada

Small calcite cleavage from a now depleted small occurrence near Gatineau, in Outaouais, Quebec, Canada. Fluoresces pretty nicely under midwave UV; pretty weak under SW & LW. Shows a nice reaction to a 405 nm violet laser beam (shown in the first and second pictures).

The specimen is shown fluorescing under midwave in the third image, and it is shown in visible light in the last image.

Size: 3,3 cm X 2,6 cm X 1,2 cm

Violet-blue (405 nm) laser beam fluorescence. Note how the laser beam is split in two by the birefringence of the calcite
