Aesthetic cluster of waxy, pale yellow, calcite scalenohedrons and minor chalcopyrite on a minimal limestone matrix, from the Sweetwater Mine, Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri. As shown in the photographs below, under UV, the calcite shows a beautiful multi-wavelength fluorescent response. The size of this specimen is 84 x 59 x 51 mm, and it weighs 119 grams.
The Sweetwater Mine is an active lead/zinc mine situated in the Viburnum Trend in southeastern Missouri.

The specimen shown under visible light. This aesthetic specimen also makes a lovely visible light display piece.
Orange fluorescence is seen under long wave UV (365 nm).
As seen in the above photograph, this specimen shows its brightest fluorescent response under mid wave UV (302 nm), glowing a bright pink/magenta color.
Red/orange fluorescence is seen under short wave UV (254 nm).
