Quartz Crystal with Petroleum Inclusions, from Pakistan

Chris Clemens

This single, double terminated Herkimer diamond-like, quartz crystals is from Pakistan. It is a beautiful little specimen when viewed under natural lighting, but explodes with bright blue/white fluorescence under UV due to numerous internal petroleum (oil) inclusions that glow brightly under UV. The fluorescence is similar under all UV wavelengths, but is a little warmer under long wave. The length of the crystal is 26 mm.
