Agrellite, Kipawa Alkaline Complex, Québec, Canada

Massive, light grey colored, crystalline agrellite from the Kipawa alkaline complex, Les Lacs-du-Témiscamingue, Témiscamingue RCM, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Québec, Canada. Fluoresces lavender pink under short wave UV, brighter lavender pink under mid wave UV. The size of this specimen is 9.3 x 7.9 x 5.0 cm, and weighs 358 grams.

Agrellite exhibits a brief intense phosphorescence (BIP) when quickly removed from under a shortwave (or midwave) UV light. The color, unlike Franklin calcite, is a yellowish orange (slow motion video courtesy Howie G).
