Calcite with a little Fluorite, Taolin Mine, China

FireViper

A large and pretty calcite specimen from the Taolin Mine, Linxiang County, Hunan, China. The calcite glows a bright red in SW and a much softer red in LW where the fluorite glows blue. Interestingly, the white fluorescence appears where there has been cleavage damage. The piece is about 7 by 6 inches and nearly 3 3/4 pounds.
