Salmon Calcite, Sterling Hill Mine, New Jersey, USA

FireViper

Salmon calcite matches its namesake—raw salmon. This piece is composed of beautiful crystals of the pink colored calcite and weighs in at around 10 pounds. Collected from the Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Surprisingly, it seems to be in much larger boulder than its Franklin counterpart and the good news is that there’s still tons to collect. Shown in shortwave and natural light.
