The Rodney Dangerfields of Fluorescent Minerals - They Don't Get No Respect

Not many collectors seek out chalcedony. Similarly, when they hear caliche [a zone of calcium carbonate or other carbonates in soils of semiarid regions], noses typically turn up. Yet, this amalgamation of both from the Anderson Mine, Yavapi County, Arizona provides evidence that when they strut their stuff, both of these are collection worthy.

It weighs 1 pound, 7 1/4 ounces and measures 4 1/2 x 4 x 3 inches. Fluorescent pictures were taken at ISO-100, f/11 for m1.6 seconds. SW, MW. LW and natural.
